About Natalie

Born and raised in Steinbach, MB, Natalie Smith moved to Winnipeg to study at the University of Winnipeg where she received a BA in Political Science. For the last eight years, she’s made her home in St. John’s with her wife, their dog Louanne, and their cat Ralph. Natalie’s passion for community organizing started in 2013 when she campaigned for the U-Pass referendum for Winnipeg-based Universities, which was passed in 2014. Her previous work experience includes Women’s Health Clinic, the North End Community Renewal Corporation, and 4 years as the Campaign and Outreach Organizer for the Wilderness Committee, where she was part of a campaign that successfully saved the Lemay Forest. Smith is a regular volunteer organizer of the annual North End Christmas Party, and fulfills many volunteer roles at Pollock’s Hardware Co-op on Main Street. She also sits on the board of We Rock Winnipeg, the Ralph Brown Community Centre, and recently finished a term on the board of West Central Women’s Resource Centre.
